OPENING FOR THE DAVE ROWE TRIO!
The Dave Rowe Trio is a high-energy group that blends in-your-face, three-part harmony with hot guitar pickin´, jaw-dropping fiddling, and dry Downeast wit. The band started soon after Dave Rowe´s father passed away in 2004. Tom Rowe was a founding member of the revered folk group, Schooner Fare, and was Dave´s bandmate in the roots band, Turkey Hollow. Needing some uplifting and a new direction, Dave asked Kevin O´Reilly and Ed Howe to join him to become the Dave Rowe Trio. They held their first rehearsal on St. Patrick´s Day in 2004 in front of a live audience. After this trial by fire, the trio started on a path of CD production and live shows all over the country, recording five critically acclaimed CDs in three years and impressing audiences from Maine to Milwaukee.Dave Rowe (acoustic guitar, tin whistle, piano) began performing professionally with the Makem Brothers (Tommy Makem´s sons) when he was 15. Since then he has toured both as a solo artist and with many highly regarded acts including both Rowe by Rowe and Turkey Hollow, Don Campbell, Murphy´s Lawbreakers and Maine´s local-legendary Silver Dollar Band.Fiddle wünderkind Edward Howe started to play the instrument at 4. With the Howe family band, he performed bluegrass shows all over his home state of Maine. Later he joined rising star Lissa Schneckenburger in a band called Wake the Neighbors.Kevin O´Reilly (electric bass guitar) spent his formative years in local Maine rock bands, including many with names unfit for publication (one of the tamest was Love Cactus). After several years of trying to make a go of it in rock, Kevin became a high school guidance counselor and confined his playing to jam sessions and a few pickup gigs. It was at a jam session near his home that Dave first heard him play. Two weeks later, the Dave Rowe Trio began. With their varied experiences and influences coming to bear, the Dave Rowe Trio is a fresh, welcome voice in folk and acoustic circles.Connecticut native Doug Brouder, now of Fairfax, is inspired by the long-ago New England folk and coffeehouse scene. After years of playing covers and performing not only rock, bluegrass, oldies and blues, but also musical theater and classical choral work, Doug started writing – children´s music at first, then songs of the land and local stories, then branching out to wider subjects. Now he calls his sound groovy acoustic music, and it ranges from traditional folk through country rock to that point where folk, country, roots tradition and poetry intersect.

Tuesday Troubadours
Austin Grill Rockville 36A Maryland Ave. Rockville, MD 20850 301-838-4281 Price: $free
"Tuesday Troubadours: Hosted By Bob Sima" is modeled after the classic Nashville "Singer Songwriters in the Round" format. Each Tuesday, Bob brings in 2 guest singer-songwriters to join him on stage for an evening of all original singer-songwriter material. Immediately following are a series of Cameo sets by invited singer songwriters. The old saying goes, it ain´t a good song unless you can successfully move the audience without a back-up band, studio wizardry and smoke and mirrors. So Bob hand picks the best of the best local and national/international talent to demonstrate that concept each week. They share songs, stories and sometimes a guitar lick in what turns out to be an often magical display of song craft and entertainment. Fans of original music are encouraged to attend, as the event is just a great way to spend and evening in a non-smoking environment where the food it stellar, drinks are delectable, parking is free, seats are comfy and most of all the music is magic!"

Funny Song Show
West Market Clubhouse, Reston 1901 Logan Manor Dr Reston, VA 20190 http://saw.org Price: $10
ATTENTION: I had previously posted that this was a free show - I have learned that there is a suggestion donation of $10 for the evening. Well worth it, in my humble opinion, to keep a wonderful music series going in such a nice venue. Sorry for any confusion.
An all-star lineup of local funny songsters - beginning at around 7PM. BYOB, bring food, bring something to grill if you like - or not. This will be a lot of fun. The Clubhouse is a very nice venue, actually a homeowner's association building, which translates very well to an intimate coffeehouse. See you there!
